How do I relate to my religion?

I am absorbed into and engrossed in Buddhism. In every second of my life, in whatever I do, consciously or unknowingly I try to live up to the Buddhist principles. I am so in to Buddhism that, sometimes I wonder whether I'm a blind or a passive believer. I am not sure whether followers of other religions feel the same way. I have friends, whom I consider very intelligent, are fundamental believers Christianity. Are we in the same boat? Is there a difference in the way we follow religions? How did I become a Buddhist? Although my parents took a great interest in Buddhism since merely an year ago, they were not that religious when I was small. In comparison to others, we went to the temple very rarely. To be frank we went to the temple twice a year. Probably our visits were limited to Poson and Wesak day. My parents did not force me to attend the Sunday school either. I went there for several days and got heavily bored. As it was compulsory, I learned about Buddhism from the Gr...

Disappointed that you have Windows XP instead of slick and cool Windows 7? There are somethings you can do to improve your Windows eXPerience. :) "Show Desktop" button on the Windows 7 task bar is a very useful, time-saving feature. With the "Show Desktop" button the user doesn't have to minimize the windows one by one to reveal the desktop.   You can have the same feature on Windows XP. Follow the below instructions. Click Start , click Run , type notepad in the Open box, and then click OK . Carefully copy and then paste the following text into the Notepad window: [Shell] Command=2 IconFile=explorer.exe,3 [Taskbar] Command=ToggleDesktop On the File menu, click Save As , and then save the file to your desktop as "Show desktop.scf" . The Show desktop icon is created on your desktop. Click and then drag the Show desktop icon to your Quick Launch toolbar. :D If you are a not a Tech-Geek or just being lazy find the qu...

Z-Score FiaZco

Like every other Sri Lankan student who survived (or didn't survive) the GCE Advanced Level torture, I can relate to the pain of 2011 A/L doers. People, who's negligence caused the pandemonium, must have collected an enormous amount of bad karma. Last week, one girl tried to kill herself after getting a lowered Z-score. Who should be blamed? Can we pin point a single cause for the whole problem? Ministers of Education After all it is the ministry of EDUCATION. Not just one, but there are two ministries dedicated for education. There are two cabinet ministers appointed to look after these prestigious institutions. Ministers are ironically products of Sri Lankan education system. Both of them were lucky to get through the A/L and to graduate. It is a surprise to see the two ministers still in their seats. They should resign, respecting the positions they hold. It is their duty to look after their ministerial affairs. It is a special situation , where the decision was made t...

Buddha Space: You're An Idiot Buddhist!

Buddha Space: You're An Idiot Buddhist! : Someone calls you an idiot. Then you start thinking, “How can they call me an idiot? They’ve got no right to call me an idiot! How rude to call me an idiot! I’ll get them back for calling me an idiot.” And you suddenly realize that you have just let them call you an idiot another four times. Every time you remember what they said, you allow them to call you an idiot yet again. Therein lies the problem. If someone calls you an idiot and you immediately let it go, then it doesn’t bother you. There is the solution. Why allow other people to control your inner happiness? (Ajahn Brahm, ‘Who Ordered This Truckload of Dung?’ p.226)............. Read the rest on Buddha Space
