A Perspective of Sri Lankan Bus Conductors

Image
You judged already! Didn't you? If you thought that this blog post is a negative, complaining rant about the cussed behaviour of Sri Lankan bus conductors, you will find me irritating (or wise) at the end of this post. Sri Lankan bus conductors are often criticized for treating passengers as goods and not returning change, among many other 'bad' traits. Is it always true? Are we being judgy? Maybe we should put ourselves in the slippers of a bus conductor to step into the world of bus conducting. For me, being a bus conductor in the over-utilized transport sector is worse than a nightmare. Imagine spending most of the day in often-moving-slow-due-to-traffic? Thoughts in the Bus

Not only the old, the differently-abled, pregnant, women and clergy but everybody deserve a seat in a bus. Suffering and pain are experienced by everybody. I do feel guilty of having to make a choice! When you give money to a beggar, don't ask yourself whether the donation will encourage beggary, or whether the beggar is a genuine one or not, or whether the beggar is just being lazy, or whether the beggar will use money for drug abuse. If you want to give, Just give it without any conditions. The moment you "give" under such conditions, your self-centeredness defeats your kindness.

He didn't say the exact phrase but I thought It would be catchy and cool to make a saying :) Ajahn Brahm teaches people to be happy. Its simply simple as that. He doesn't not define boundaries/explicit rules express or absolute truths that causes guilt, shame and suffering but teaches a way of life that brings harmony, peacefulness, happiness and kindness. It doesn't matter you are in love with Jesus (one should indeed continue loving Jesus), God(s) or Allah, all can come in and experience Buddhism. Buddhism is not a religion where people are forced to do this and refrain from doing that out of fear of god's wrath. That's why Buddhism is growing and surviving the modernization.  Back to the saying "Shit Happens, Says the Arsehole" . Shit never really happens. We label happenings as shit, bad, terrible or crappy. Things are the way they are....
